Your love compels me forward
Your love controls my heart
and i just can't, i cannot get away

so i will fight this good fight of faith
and i will do it all for love
You are my great reward
You're so worth fighting for
and i can't wait to see your face

Day 02 - A Picture of What You Wore Today

Okay, this picture wasn't taken today but I forgot to take one and it's already 11:36. I wore my shirt from Rome that my dad picked out for me when he went. He gets really happy when he sees me wearing this. Jokes on him!

the smell of crap

After a heinous 12 1/2 hour flight which I would love to forget, I am finally in Korea. Things that went wrong with the flight:
  • Asiana decided not to inform us about extra charges when changing flight dates, so my parents were more than thrilled when the inexperienced ticket guy decided to tell them that they owed $300 on the spot. Wrong move, my friend. After going through four different Asiana employees and chewing each one out, I pleaded with my parents to just pay the fee or else I would miss my flight. So they did..but not until after they got the names of every person that tried to tell them there was no way out of paying. That information did not sit well with my parents so I'm sure Asiana will be expecting a very angry phone call sometime soon. (These things are absolutely inexcusable in my dad's book. Just last week, after our new fridge was delivered, he called up Best Buy asking why they thought it was appropriate to deliver our fridge 2 weeks late...and that they should needed to compensate him for their own irresponsibility. They apologized, gave him $150 store credit, and we bought a new camera! Yay!)
  • My flight was delayed 30 minutes. Usually, I really don't care about this kind of stuff, especially when it's only 30 minutes, but when you're stuck at a gate with more people than there are chairs available, and half the population of gate 120 are tourist students from China whacking you with their Disneyland souvenirs, you can't help but start to feel a little agitated within the first 45 seconds.
  • I was lucky enough to sit next to a dancing hip hoptastic couple that decided sitting in a cramped airplane was the perfect place to "jerk" and practice their moves. Oh, and of course, while blasting their music like crazy.
  • The airplane food that was.....oof. Just the smell of it made me want to vomit all over the place. I don't know what's wrong with me...I used to do so well with airplane food.
  • The well trained flight attendant that spilled someone else's coke on my shirt. Since when did a look of shock replace an apology or a few measly napkins? Thanks for nothing!
  • The little girl that barfed as we were in line to leave the plane. Why!!!! It took everything in me to hold back what was trying to come up out of my mouth. Eek.
So all in all, it wasn't the best flight I've ever had. It's too hard to travel alone, especially when you have to figure out a way to occupy yourself for 12 hours. Things that were good? Praise God He kept us safe with little to no turbulence and I didn't lose my luggage. wee!

What I've done in Korea so far:
  • Eat. Downside of staying with grandma: she lives an hour bus ride and 1 1/2 subway ride away from the city. Upside: she makes the best food of all life
  • Take pictures of.....trees. Okay seriously, I never really thought that this place where my grandma lives was considered "shigol", especially in the past few years because they've built so many new things, but when it smells like trees, creek water, dirt, and poop and you can hear insect noises all day and all night, I can't help but wonder if I've been deceived all this time.
  • Played with my grandma's fat dog. More like....sit there as it goes nutso on its own.
Honestly, it's good to be back. I missed this place, these smells, these sounds, and the people. I don't know anyone here but they all know me for some reason. My grandma lived here most of her life and she knows all these "village people" (as Sam calls them) and her being the village chief means that everyone knows her children and her grandchildren. It's really strange when an old stranger grandma comes up to you and says, "Are you NamSookee's ddahl?" Yes, I am, but who the heck are you?

Two more days of relaxation and then I'm off to India! Oh India.......what do I expect from you? Nothing, that's why I'm so excited to figure you out in the 10 days that I have with you. God + India + the gospel + saved souls + new lives = ???? Pure joy. So excite!

Man, I wish I brought my camera computer usb wire thing. I have no pictures to share until September when I'll be home. No countdowns just yet. I'm still happy to be here.
